Residential Services

The Department of Residential Services at Pickens County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs offers a variety of supportive living options designed to empower adults with disabilities to achieve the greatest level of independence possible. Our approach centers on creating safe, inclusive environments where personal choice, dignity, and skill-building are prioritized.

We utilize person-centered planning and positive behavior support strategies to help individuals identify and work toward their unique goals. Each residential setting is designed to foster growth, respect personal rights, and encourage active community involvement.

Depending on individual strengths and needs, we offer the following residential options:

Our Residential Services department is actively evolving, guided by fresh leadership, higher standards, and a renewed commitment to empowering each individual. We believe that by fostering supportive relationships and nurturing abilities, everyone can achieve their maximum potential and participate fully in community life.

Community Training Homes – Level 2 (CTH II)

Our CTH II homes are staffed around the clock and provide a warm, supportive environment where up to four individuals live together. Direct Support Professionals assist with activities of daily living such as meals, hygiene, and household management, focusing on teaching skills that increase each person’s independence. Support is gradually adjusted as residents build confidence and abilities, always respecting each person’s right to participate actively in their care and daily routines.

Supervised Living Programs – Level 2 (SLP II)

SLP II offers a more independent experience in a community-integrated, apartment-style setting. Here, individuals receive onsite support tailored to their needs, with opportunities to develop skills in areas like medication management, budgeting, home care, transportation, and community engagement. Our staff promote self-advocacy and independence, helping residents grow into lesser-restrictive settings as they are ready.

Supervised Living Programs – Level 1 (SLP I)

SLP I is designed for those who need minimal support. Individuals in this program live in their own apartments or community residences and receive regular but less intensive guidance from our team, primarily in areas like financial oversight, transportation, and goal planning. The focus remains on choice, self-direction, and living as independently as possible within the community.
